You’ll often be told to keep your head down and eyes on the ball, but it’s not really your eyes that are the problem here.
You might feel like you want to raise your head because keeping it down so long gets uncomfortable and you know where the ball is, but it’s this raising action that’s the issue. As your head raises, your spine changes placement slightly. This small movement can then change the position of your arms, which then throws off your whole shot.
Keeping your head down also ensures the proper spine alignment during the shot. If it hurts, then you might be straining your neck and keeping it too far down. Just relax the muscles in that area and don’t move around too much. If you want your shot to be the best, then keep your head in the same place and don’t move it.
